More Witlesser On Lothar
Hilarity Clanton, former First Person of the United States, is Anne Coaltar's old enemy -- and now she is First Girl in the slave kennel in which Coaltar finds herself. Fortuanately ... well, there's nothing fortunate going on for Anne here ...
Public Bondage In Second Life
The 3D networking grid Second Life is an incredible advance over TV, movies, books, and most other forms of Internet communications. It's better than I would have dreamed was possible. And it's free, and it's full of damsel in distress possiblities.
Even Witlesser on Lothar
Is Anne Coaltar doomed to a fate worse than death? Well, if you've read Pat Powers' stuff before, you'll know that fates worse than death are commonplace with him. But ... is there a fate worse than a fate worse than death? Find out ... maybe ... in Chapter 3.
Witlesser on Lothar
Has Anne Coaltar survived death in Chapter 1? The fact that there's a Chapter 2 should be a bit of a clue on that issue. But what further perils will Anne face? Was it just one hell of a party, or is something else going on?
Virtual Slavegirls Of Second Life
What Should A Slavegirl Look Like? Ask A Virtual Slavegirl! The artificial cyberspace world known as "Second Life" (think "World of Warcraft" for grownups, where people design their own scenarios) has a very large and active group of roleplayers who like to participate in sims based on John Norman's Gor novels. A goodly percentage (some say the majority) are women who like to roleplay at being slavegirls at least part of the time. They have an enormous range of costuming available from virtual clothing designers. How do they dress? Let's just say, "Me like. Me like very much."
Witless on Lothar
The first chapter of the first book in the Lotharionian Epic Cycle Saga Series is approporiate called "The Beginningnation" and deals with what happens when Ann Coaltar wakes up naked and chained to a rock after what was apparently one hell of a party, and meets up with two Renfair types.
Legend of the Seeker Gets Bondage-licious
The first sword and sorcery project to actually make it to the screen has proven to be a source of incredibly varied bondage imagery, with four out of the last four episodes containing damsels in distress. An extremely good omen for the upcoming projects listed in our "Sword and Stuff Project News article. We report, with caps.
Feast of Souls Reviewed
Feast of Souls is a pretty damn good Andre Norton-ish high fantasy novel that contains no bondage or even any maledom/femsub scenes, but it sure could have used a few. I explain how and why.
Sword and Sandal Stuff News
Our incredible research staff has put together a listing of up and coming sword and sandal TV and movie projects, along with a brief bit about their status. We really weren't kidding about all the stuff in the pipes.
Hostel 2
We don't like horror movies, but we got intrigued by the whole torture-porn thing, so we girded our loins and reviewed Hostel 2 and you know what? It's all about plausible deniabiilty! Really!
Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon
Hercules pairs off (each of his pecs has its own zip code) with the three Tyrants of Babylon and the King of Assyria in a movie full of intrigue and betrayal and women chained like animals. We like. Plus, there the stupidest civil engineering project in the history of civilization. We like a lot.
Circle of Iron
For January 31, we have some marching orders -- move over, Triangle of Death! Begone, Polygons of Doom! Stupid has a new favorite shape! We review the ridiculously pretention Zen martial arts (unintentional) comedy Circle of Iron.
Tarzan Taur Thor And The Amazon Women
For January 23 we bring you our review of "Thor and the Amazon Women," a movie that features mass yoke bondage, Triangles of Death, Polygons of Doom, leg sucking and smurf heads with whips. And one hell of a lot else.
Have Your Quake and Eat It, Too!
For January 13, we ask the question, what happens when you bring a Collector-style story of obsessive love to the natural drama of an earthquake? We're sorry we asked, as it has led us to review the Roger Corman stinker "Quake."
Slavegirls From Beyond Infinity
For December 30, we wish everyone a Happy New Year and our review of Slavegirls From Beyond Infinity. This film has some spectacular loosies but also handles the slavegirl imagery as well as or better than any other film we know of. And we know of a LOT of films.
The Boti Bliss Effect
For December 22, we wish everyone a happy holiday season and present the Boti Bliss Effect. The same actresses can appear in mainstream films and TV shows and in softcore and hardcore porn films and videos, and we show how this can add a lot to said mainstream shows and films.
Bondagerotica Welcomes The Hentai Revue
For December 14, Bondagerotica presents the Hentai Revue, a collection of reviews that deal strictly with Japanese adult anime, by Pat Powers. (We tried to get someone else to write them, but no one else will work for peanuts, literally. ) We've got almost four dozen anime reviewed, with more on the way. And if you like bondage, you'll like hentai, because hentai are chock full of it. They're also chock full of some of the weirdest plots and strangest characters we've ever seen. And that's saying something.
Empowered Rocks!
For December 10, we announce: Move over, Wonder Woman, the comics world has a new superheroine leading the charge in terms of bondage-proneness! She's here to get naked and get roped, and she's all out of rope!
Kiss The Girls Goodbye
For November 19 we present Kiss The Girls Goodbye, an indie flick that is a noble failure. It features the biggest honkin' Harmony style gag ever, with the most screen time for a gagged actress in a mainstream film. There are some interesting attempts at character development, hindered by a single awful mistake by the director.
Deathstalker
For November 9 we bring you Deathstalker, which is without a doubt the best B-movie sword and sandal flick of the 80s. It's got plenty of fighting, slavegirl T&A all over the place, and of course bound, naked slavegirls. being molested. One of them is played by Playmate Barbi Benton.
The Arena (2001)
For November 2, we look at The Arena, possibly the sword and sandal movie that mishandles the slavegirl image more than any other. It's a sexploitation flick about slavegirls that stars two former Playboy Playmates. Now, THAT'S fucking up!
The Slavegirls of Fatal Conflict and Sleeping Dogs
For November 1, we take a look at two mainstream SF films whose slavegirl imagery spawned an entire genre -- Czechploitation films.
Nicole Kidman in Birthday Girl
For October 21, Nicole Kidman gets bound and naked, bound and gagged, and does a bit of self-bondage in "Birthday Girl." Other things happen as well, sadly including an instance of Lurking Heavy Plot ruining what could have been another "Secretary."
Are Waitresses Slave Girls?
For October 12, we answer a question that nobody asked. We examine John Norman's notion of paga slaves and contrast them with modern waitresses in hopes of preventing a dangerous meme from spreading further. Also, because it was a fun idea.
Electric Blue 44
For October 5, we have more analyses of slavegirl scenes in movies and other media. We include a lengthy piece about the gold standard for slavegirl hotness, Electric Blue #44, and we also cover Yvonne de Carlo in Slave Girl, Cave Dwellers, Jenny Agutter in Logan's Run and Katherine Heigl from FHM.
What Should A Slave Girl Look Like? (in a Sword and Sandal Movie)
For September 29 we present What Should A Slave Girl Look Like? (in a Sword and Sandal Movie) aka The Hottitude of Servitude. An in-depth examination of slave girl imagery in sword and sandal movies, with an eye to how such imagery can be used to pump up the hottitude and the drama in sword and sandal movies. Includes the Hottitudinal Servitude Index and an analysis of slavegirl scenes in movies and other media.
Son of Sinbad Joins Our Sword and Sandal Section!
For September 23, our review of the Arabian Nights movie for Dad is now available on Bondagerotica. Marie Blanchard bound and gagged, Sally Forrest chained and exotic dancers all over the place!
Announcing Our New Sword and Sandal Movie Section!
Haul out the pig-stickers and togas, guys, sword and sandal movies are in development all over the place. I have some much-needed advice about how slavegirls should look and act.
Carrie Genzel stars in Caged Hearts
For September 8, up and coming star Carrie Genzel stars in Caged Hearts, a topnotch women in prison movie that includes a nude catfight/lesbian rape scene for Ms. Genzel.
The Angel Blade Hentai Series
For August 24 we have a review of the hentai series Angel Blade. We review this series because it is the perfect thing to watch on TV while doing other stuff. This is NOT intended as an insult -- it's really hard to find something that's rewarding to watch whenever you watch the screen, but you don't have to follow along to enjoy.
Bad Girls Bit Gag Scene
For August 23 a commentary on Debra Stephenson's bit gag scene in Bad Girls. We were of course disappointed. It's part of being curmudgeonly. It's not enough to add to the mainsteam index, but it is worth checking out.
Bikini Chain Gang
For August 17 we review Bikini Chain Gang. This genial spoof of women in prison films gives up the bondage better than most actuial women in prison films, which is unusual for a Skinamax film. And of course it's all over the sex and nudity.
Bad Girls
For August 10 we have a review of the British TV series "Bad Girls." I started my "Women in Prison" section because of the startup of the US women in prison series "Bad Girls" so I thought I should review the British women in prison series "Bad Girls" that it's based on. And add some thoughts on how the US version can avoid fucking up like the Brits did.
Against Their Wills
For August 5 we have a review of "Against Their Wills." You know how I keep talking about Lifetime Channel women in prison movies? Well, this is one. And it has a couple of really strict bondage scenes. How about a straightjacket hogtie? Sure puts a couple of sexploitation women in prison movies I could name to shame.
Caged Fury
Another women in prison movie reviewed, and this one is full of nakedness and violence as Dirk the Human Wrecking Ball demolishes an evil prison facility. And then there's the evil lesbian warden Sybil Thorn. Fun will be had by all.
Firsts In Bondage Revised
For the week of July 20 we're taking a break from Women in Prison films, fun though they are, with an extensively updated, added to and revised chart of Firsts in Bondage in Mainstream TV shows and movies. There are many more categories than in our old chart, many more vidcaps and a great much There will be much to nitpick about, and there are plenty of vidcaps. Enjoy!
Time Served Reviewed
For July 13, Catherine Oxenberg covers up a murder committed by her son and winds up in a prison where she's forced to dance sexily for men. It starts off like a Lifetime women in prison flick and winds up a stripperific exploitation flick, featuring Catherine Oxenberg naked as well as some very talented strippers.
Chained Heat Reviewed
For July 6, we present a review of Chained Heat, the progenitor of the modern women in prison flick, which features a luscious Linda Blair being lesbianically dommed by a smokin' hot Sybil Danning. What's not to like?
Under Lock and Key
For July 2, we review what is perhaps the nakedest women in prison film ever because it introduces the wonderful concept of in-cell nudity! Probably got it from the white slavery films. Good move.
Prison World Review and Tour
For June 24, read my explanantion of why commercial bondage videos, which OUGHT to be my favorite genre of women in prison themed video storiesare not. My review of the commercial bondage video Prison World is a perfect explanation of why not.
I Put Up So I Don't Have To Shut Up
Also for June 24, read my women in prison themed short story "Doin' Time In the Blue Shadows" and tell me if I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk.
Bad Girls and Cherry Hill: A Thrill And A Pill
For June 20, an update of the Women In Prison Dramas Index page, adding a link to an article about a prospective women in prison TV series that didn't make the cut, and about reruns of a very successful British women in prison series now available to those with liberal digital cable.
Chained Heat 3000 and Women in Prison Dramas
For June 16, when we heard that Robert Rodriguez was doing a Chicks in Chains series and that HBO was doing a women in prison flick, we knew we had to update our review of Chained Heat 3000, one of the if not the best women in prison movies ever made, an article on how to make the perfect women in prison movie, and an article on the reality of women in prison. More stuff will be coming down the road, because Rodriguez and HBO both are gonna need help, judging by what's out there in the mainstream on this theme.
Tales of Lost Bikini Island
For June 9, we launch a web comic. Because it's fun, that's why. In our first episode, Candy Michaels, wrassler and bondage model, is welcomed to the island by Wonder Babe and her bitch Dorothy.
Return of the Loosie Awards
For June 1, the Loosie Awards in their entirety returns to Bondagerotica. And this time it's personal! The Bad Bondage Hall of Shame is back in business. Here are 30 reviews snarking on really bad bondage scenes in mainstream TV and movies. Enjoy!
Did Helen Mirren Appear in the Roughie Western Hot Spur?
For May 27, we think we have photographic evidence that she did. But then, we also think that robots are stealing our luggage. But this is probably more than the harebrained malarkey it looks like ... well, we'd like to think that.
Savage Sword of Conan
For May 14, we have a lengthy meditation on the character of Conan the Cimmerian. Conan is not into bondage, not by a long shot, but the world he lives in is ... VERY into bondage. And the incredibly well made Savage Sword of Conan series, newly issued in trade paperback by Dark Horse, makes it very clear.
Nurse Me
For Cinco de Mayo we have "Nurse Me," a hentai which attempts to be a humorous story about a nurse in training whom EVERYONE wants to rape. Male, female, young, old, they all press their unwanted sexual advances on her virginal self. It's billed as a comedy, but it's not funny, which is ... a bit of a problem. We also look at "Candy" a film which does the same thing more successfully ... but not all that successfully, and "Defiance of Good and Evil" a harecore porn film from the 70s which has a more realistic rape scene than either of these films ... which really kills your average boner.
Why Is There No Naked or Half-Naked Women Dancing Channel On TV?
For May 1, we seek an answer to this perplexing question.
First Panty Gag on TV
In our continuing coverage of firsts in bondage in mainstream media, for April 21 we've updated our story on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit's achievement as having the first panty gag on mainstream TV. Not only that, the first nude panty gag. Now, that's dedication! We've added caps from Jaded, The Hitcher (a commercial bondage video) and a recent episode of My Name Is Earl. Because we care.
A Little Bit O' Monica
For April 15, a 27,000 word short story. OK, that's more like a novella. It's about a young woman who figures out that cosplay can be an excuse to spend four days naked and crawling all over cute boys. Her costume ... Slavegirl Belinda, who makes Slave Leia look overdressed! It's all part of a proposed webcomic called "Slavegirl Belinda. If you are a webcomic artist, or know a promising artist who'd like to do webcomics, this could be your big chance. Or their big chance. Or SOMEBODY's big chance. Check it out, in any event.
For April 9, we have an article entitled "Pony Soldier, Funny Games and Pimpin' Da Bondage" in which we discover that Penny Edwards wore a REALLY tight bitgag in the 1952 film "Pony Soldier," leading us to some ruminations about whether or not modern actresses are "pimpin' da bondage" when promoting their movies. The article is late because we did a TON of research for it ... much of it, to no avail.
For March 29th, we have a review of the Skinamax flick Testing the Limits in which we introduce the concepts of the Reluctant Sensitive Guy and Lurking Heavy Plot. On the bright side, Lorissa McComas gets bound and gagged and naked, though not all at once.
For March 23rd, we ask a question: Does the Skinamax classic called "Over the Wire" contain the raunchiest bondage scene in mainstream films? YOU decide! (Featuring a page of gratuitous package display "for the ladies.")
For March 16th, we have a report on a great gag scene from The Flash Gordon TV series on the SciFi Channel, which is best known for not doing ANYTHING well. So, how did THIS scene happen?
Why so long between updates? Well, our staff has been sick. Two weeks in the hospital eating hospital food, which is so bad it can destroy the will to live, and then another two weeks to stop being weak as a kitten. A pain in the ass, but we're all better now, we promise.
For Fegruary 2, Wonder Woman Appears Nude on Playboy -- Millions Riot! Tiffany Fallon appears sorta/kinda nude on the cover of the February 2008 issue of Playboy in a painted-on Wonder Woman suit and the anti-sex feminists go through the roof!
For January 17, I've done a minor update to my "Saving Grace" article based on some thoughts I've had about how they got away with such a raunchy bondage scene and why it didn't get noticed more.
For January 13, 2008, we present "Women's Murder Club," a TV series aimed at the crazy cat lady demographic presents the first breather gag seen on network TV. Way to go, crazy cat ladies!
For January 6, 2008, we present "Slave Leia's Secret." Why are women showing by the dozens at science fiction cons dressed as Slave Leia? Why is Slave Leia showing up in the media 30 years after the film which made her famous first appeared? I know. Now you will, too. Also, you'll get to see some major nakedness.
Psychologist Warning: At the request of the American Psychological Advancement Association, we are required to warn you that if you do not have a "thing" for Slave Leia now, you will if you read this article.
For Demember 28 we present, "Movies and TV Shows That SHOULDA Been Made." After all what if karma really worked? With so many missed opportunities and so much bad bondage, there are several movies and TV shows that WOULD exist, if only ...
For December 27 we offer a review of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's "Dead Things" episode, which had a beautiful shot to develop some real drama, or humor, and definitely some DiD action. Came right up to the gate ... and balked. We explain why and how.
For December 26, over on our blog, we offer a leftover from our Wonder Woman article, an image of Ka'a'nga the Jungle King rescuing a beautiful, half-naked damsel from distress from a 1944 cover. A very disquieting image. One more chance to snark on old comic covers. Life is good.
For December 24, over on our blog, we bust the films "Busty Models" and "Busty Neighbors" for not being very ... busty. We have an image of Glorianne Gilbert, who we feel can do an EXCELLENT job of illustrating what "busty' is all about.
For December 17 we present the Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yaks, in which John Willie's Sweet Gwendoline hit the big screen in the guise of hottie Tawny Kitaen at her hottest, and the bondage was plentiful and good. But the writingand acting were ... not. Also, an update to the article on Tina Louise's bitgag scene on Bonanza. We added just a bit more snark and a comments link.
For December 10, we present a review from Jollyroper days, "Dangerous Attraction," an erotic thriller that had a nice duct tape bondage scene -- but it promised, oh, so much more!
For December 6, we present a Golden Oldie review from Jollyroper days, "Roman Scandals of 1934," a black and white epic that features a nudie bondage layer cake in ancient Rome. We are not making this up!
For December 1, we've updated the blog to allow comments on our article about all the talk show bondage that took place this August.
For November 27, a new entry in our blog, "Dominance By Other Means."
For November 26, we have Saving Grace's envelope-ripping bondage scene: Holly Hunter. Nude. Bound. Fucked. On a non-premium cable TV series. Ain't life grand? Check it out.
We're also instituting the ability to comment on our articles via our new blog, "Politically Sexy." Set up for "Saving Grace" and "Wonder Woman" to date, will likely be retrofitted to other articles.
For November 20, we tripled the number of examples of Wonder Woman's bondage competitors in last month's Wonder Woman article because, well, it's fun snarking on those old comics. Click here to go to the index for the section, or click here to go right to the first new example.
For October 21, we reveal that Wonder Woman is, of course, into bondage. But that's the extent of the "secrets" most sites reveal. In this in-depth article that's bigger than a lot of websites, we dig deeper. A LOT deeper. Includes illustrated history of Wonder Woman bondage, a look at Wonder Woman's bondage competitors, and a script for a Wonder Woman/Batman crossover set on Transformation Island, Wonder Woman's lesbian bondage reform school for wayward women. Which actually existed, back in the 1940s.
For September 5, we have an article about the fact that hentai have finally begun to work their slimy tentacles into American mainstream media (and about time, we say!) as the ecchi "Eiken" invades the Encore Aciton cable channel.
For August 19, we mustannounce that talk shows are breaking out in an unprecedented wave of bound and gagged scenes, including a nude bondage scene for Chelsea Handler! What the heck is going on around here?
For August 6, we have a new essay about Tina Aumont's first-ever shibari bondage scene in a US mainstream movie in Lifespan, but it's not porn, it's SCIENCE dammit. Science! (Cue Thomas Dolby.) Tina Aumont will blind you with science alrighty.
For June 25, we have two new essays: a piece about the first ever joyrope in a mainstream movie, and a piece about the first ever bitgag in U.S. network TV. We also comment on the strangely lengthy gap before such bondage techniques showed up again in mainstream media.l
For May 13, I've got 23, count 'em, 23 new essays. I've been ill for awhile (bad cold, nothing more) but I've not been idle. Follow this link to a trove of 23 new essays that are slightly more bondage-oriented than the essays on the main index. Illustrated? But of course!
For April 22, we present "Bondage By Genre," an essay on the way bondage manifests in the various genre of film and television shows. Perhaps this essay makes no sense. Perhaps it is not needed in any sense of the word. But it's a great excuse to view and think about images of women in bondage, so really, it's its own excuse.
Also, a correction to the page on Birds of Prey bondage in the "Smallville Dental Gag" article. (Thanks and a tip of the hat to loyal reader J. Feenster of South Cromulence, Ohio.)
For April 2, the creators of Terminal Virus, a Roger Corman sci-fi schlockfest, came up with what is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant sexual bondage scenarios I have ever encountered anywhere. Then ... they TOTALLY blew it.
For March 15, two updates. First of all "Smallville" becomes the second network TV show to use a dental gag. Strangely, there' was nothing about this landmark event in the show's promos. Except of course for the clips. Also also vik an essay on the comic book bondage images that are predecessors to the "Smallville" scene.
Second of all, a minor update. Well, not that minor in a sense. When I was watching "Special Unit 2" in its first run, I just taped it so I could do a little time shifting. So I used the long-playing setting on the recording. As a result, when I discovered that the "Beast" episode of Special Unit 2 featured the hottest bit of thong-stretching to air on TV, I was only able to get a crappy vidcap of it. SciFi Channel finally picked up the show and aired the "Beast" episode last week, and I recorded in the higher-quality, shorter-playing speed. The result, an immense improvement in the quality of the cap I was able to get, revealing the true raunchiness of this image much better than the grainy, jagged, color-banded image I had before. Check it out.
For March 4, 2007, we present "How Not To Use A Sexy Robot Babe" which draws compairsons between "Bewitched," "I Dream of Jeannie" and an episode of a defunct Skinamax TV series called "Thrills."
For March 2, 2007, we present an essay entitled "Why is Kyle McLachlan Auctioning the Spice Girls' Mothers As Slavegirls?" about photographic evidence that proves conclusively that a mysterious record industry mogul engaged in a conspiracy to ... well, read the essay. It takes a lot of explaining.
For February 25, we present a review of "Barbarian Queen" a movie that, while generous in its bondage imagery , had some characterization issues -- for example, the Barbarian Queen's little sister is by far the most interesting character in the film.
A minor edit on February 21, adding a link to the Buck Rogers review so readers can see a real slavegirl serving food instead of a waitress described as a slavegirl.
New for February 19, 2007, is an essay on the nature of nakedness and nudity. A pictorial essay. There is much to see, much to read, much to reason over as we present the results of many hours of looking at pics of scantily clad women. We 're just that kinda thorough.
New for February 6, 2007, is an essay on the return of Special Unit 2, a fun science fiction series from the former UPN network that was cancelled in 2002. The Sci-Fi Channel will be rerunning it. In addition to the science fiction fun, the series pushed the envelope on prime-time stripper thong scenes. No, really, we have proof.
New for February 4, 2007 is a review of Passion Network, a gloriously, needlessly complicated Skinamax story of unneccesarily secretive sex clubs and the people who behave in an extremely silly manner in them. Also, we have our piece on Remember the Butt on Valentines' Day up at the top, because you know, it's about that time ...
New for January 28, 2007 is a review of Exit To Eden, in which we try to figure out how another mainstream work with a bondage and dominance theme wound up with so very little sexual bondage imagery in it.
January 15, 2007
New for January 15, 2007 is a review of Demonlover, a French film about corporate espionage in a corporation where the penalties for a blown cover are very, very strict indeed.
January 2007
New for January 2007 is a review of Warrior Queen a 1987 sex and swordplay movie. Understanding Warrior Queen explains -- but does not excuse -- what happened to the Gor movies.
December 2006
New for December 2006 is the conversion of all three current Pat Powers titles into ebooks. This means they can be read, not just on a PC, but on most handheld PDAs, including such popular devices as Palmpilots, blackberries, Smartphones and Sybians.
You can now pay for our titles via credit card and can buy them from a variety of mostly legitimate e-book publishers.
Here's a link to all three e-books.
There's also something new, a press release. We're going to try something new with our e-books in 2007 -- after writing them, we'll actually market them. Our press released will be a big part of that effort. And unlike a lot of other press releases, ours will be worth reading.
