A Loosie Vision

Kristin Davis, best known for her work as Amanda in "Sex and the City," stars as Babette Watson, a psychic waitress abducted by a moronic serial killer in A Deadly Vision aka Murder in Mind. Call it what you will, it's basically a Lifetime potboiler that's notable chiefly for some of the finest tapegag closeups you will ever see outside a bondage film.

Near the end of the movie Babette (I love it when damsels are named Babette, Fifi is nice too) is captured by the serial killer. He plonks her in a chair and secures her there with duct tape.

For the most part, he does a pretty good job. Let's see what transpires:

Well, he SEEMS to have trussed her up quite nicely. Legs taped, wrists taped, mouth taped and a band of tape securing her to the chair. But he's made an error -- a FATAL error.

After tucking away his damsel, the villain retires to another room to await the hero, who's coming to the rescue, scheduled to arrive in the nick of time or thereabouts.

While the villain waits, Babbette uses her psychic powers to contact detective boy hero and tell him that she is now officially a damsel in distress.

"What a maroon!" Babbette discovers that her hands have been tied in front of her ...

... And that her hands, though tied, are unsecured, and can be used to free her from the duct tape securing her to the chair, which she does. "I'll make that idiot pay!"

"Which knife to use? Which knife to use? They're both so sharp and shiny!"

"Shall we dance?" Hero enters and he and the villain commence to tussle about. Hero's packing heat, but it gets knocked losse in the tussle.

The villain still has has his knife, though, and he stabs the hero unconscious with it.

Meanwhile, Babbette crawls, still gagged and tied at the ankles and wrists, and finds the gun where it's been knocked loose during the struggle.

"My hands are tied. My ankles are tied. I'm gagged. But I'm going to kill your ass dead, sucker!"

"All right, I'll admit, I left your hands tied in front of you, and that was a serious mistake. But it's no reason to kill someone!"

BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!

"I guess it IS a reason to kill someone!" THUD!

"Thus die all incompetent Evil Captors!"

"I am SO SORRY I didn't think about pulling my gag off so I could warn you about that knife and all!"

For this remarkable sequence, a veritable primer illustrating the hazards of leaving damsels with hands tied in front and unsecured, we award Deadly Vision a Loosie Award! Way to go, guys!
