Hercules and the Captive Women: Pretty Good for A Peplum

Back in the 1950s and 1950s, perhaps even reaching into the 1970s, Italian filmmakers turned out a couple of hundred sword and sandal flicks that were called "peplum" I believe because there were people in them (but I cold be wrong). Hercules and the Captive Women is accounted one of the better peplum. Here we have one of the very few captive women to show up in Hercules and the Captive Women. (Most of the "captives" in the movie were men, not transvestites, actual male characters. It's like the marketers thought audiences would be more interested in a film about captive women. Imagine that.)

Anyway, this is a former princess, now a slavegirl and sacrifice-designate. She's being rescued by the guy in the funny hat, who appears to be getting a good feel of her butt while the getting is good (and I don't blame him.) The person between them is a dwarf, and I'm not sure what he's doing there, though he's probably up to no good. Anyway. this is one of the better costumes of the era, which basically went for togas, but occasionally went for dowdy or even sexy (see "Warrior Queen.") One shoulder is bare so you can always hope for a breast flipout (don't hold yer breath, but it's the thought that counts). The belt around her waist gives her SOME sort of figure, but doesn't do all that much -- just establishing that she has a nice thin waist. The flowing rope that goes from her shoulder to her ankles basically conceals her figure. Typical. There's also a nice barbaric amulet.

And of course she's in bondage, too, tied arms overhead, though it's evident she'll have to be careful or her hands will slip right out of those ropes. Apparently there's rope tied around her waist, too, though they are unseen. This one scores a 10 on the hottitude index, which isn't all that hard to do -- you just need a fully dressed person in actual bondage of some sort.

By the way, this is from the MST3K version of "Hercules and the Captive Women" which I strongly recommend, as it is actually funny. For example, in one scene Hercules and company are in a dark cavelike area lit by a blazing torch in a metal cage. "Look the canary exploded!" cries Crow. Kicks the movie up to a whole new level.
