Gor Can't Match The Novels, But It DOES Kick Ass

Gor came a lot closer to the ideal that most films in this slavegirl auction scene, even though it did a miserable job of staying true to the novels it was based on. These slavegirls are almost naked -- they wear nothing but thongs. (Their nipples were blurred in a sad attempt to render this site PG.) They wear shackles and chains. Hooray! And collars as well. They get displayed but there are no nice panning shots or closeups on their skimpily clad bodies. Unfortunately there are no gags, and there's a lack of closeup shots so we can get a good ogle of the merchandise on display, and the scene is very brief. This one rates a 14 with double points for public setting. Quite respectable.

However, considering that John Norman wrote more than anyone else about how slave girls should dress and be displayed and be treated in his 25 Gor novels, by a huge margin, the movies were just sad. If the movies had been nearly as good as they should have been, prudo-feminists would STILL be protesting them. 'Cause they're still plenty cheesed about the novels, mostly because of the Gorean subculture they inspired. Like Lucas' Slave Leia, Norman's Gorean slavegirls have made a lasting impression, a testament to their power. Too bad the people who made the Gor movies were too witless to try to capitalize on that. They'd STILL be doing sequels if they had. For more on Gor, read the review.
