Cave Dwellers is a dreadful low-budget 80s flick that deserves the sort of condemnation that is generally hurled at Deathstalker, a far superior film. Cave Dwellers is generally ignored, however, a reasonable response to its lack of quality.
However, the slavegirls in Cave Dwellers are not nearly as badly botched as you might expect, based on the rest of the movie's contents, although they certainly are not used to good effect (their whole purpose in the movie is to be tossed into a snake pit one by one).
The slave tunics are kind shapeless and baggy, with metallic belts at the waist at the waist but they're so baggy the belting does little or nothing to reveal the slavegirls' figures. However, the tunics are very short -- the blue tunic looks like it ends just below it's wearer's crotch, and the others aren't much longer.
But what makes the tunics surprisingly effective as slavegirl costumes is that they are made of very thin, diaphanous material, and it is very, very apparent that the slavegirls aren't wearing any bras whenever they move.
Other than the belts, the slavegirls wear very little in the way of ornamentation of any kind, and no bondage gear. That's surprising within the context of the movie. You might reasonably expect some struggling and running-away attempts from slavegirls who've just seen their fellow slaves tossed into a snake pit. But no, the slavegirls just stand around and wait for their turn to be manhandled into the pit, one by one.
I think a scene like this definitely justifies -- hell, requires -- putting the slavegirls in bondage, with shackles on their feet to keep them from running away and their hands tied behind their backs to keep them from struggling effectively.
That said, Cave Dwellers is a sufficiently bad film that it's amazing that they didn't go for the total dowdy look for their slaves, dressing them in shapeless rags from head to toe. In a film like Cave Dwellers, you have to be grateful to anything that isn't abysmally bad.
This amounts to a 2 on our Scale of Hottitude. We're going to give them credit for "scantily clad" based on the shortness of the tunics, the flimsiness of the fabric combined with the bralessness of the slavegirls. It's a fair judgment, we think.
