In this image from Gen13, we see the Comfy Chair variation of the slab in the lab. A Gen13 superheroine who looks a lot like Denise Richards with Extra Added Hooters is cuffed and shackled to a really well-padded couch.
The reason she has to be shackled to the couch is evident -- she's wearing a combination metal collar and headset that's running Electro-Sparklies through her head, apparently quite a painful experience to judge from her expression.
In the distance we have two Evil Scientists at a techno console, looking on gleefully as the Gen13 superheroine writhes in pain.
It's a fairly run-of-the-mill image, except that the Gen13 superheroine's costume is just a painted on bit of spandex that leaves both breasts fully defined. Essentially, she's as naked as a stripper in a thong and pasties, though there's the usual comic book coverup in terms of a few lines to indicate the edges of her shorts and her shirt. The more expressive nudity is what differentiates the bondage imagery of the 90s and beyond from the more intense but less naked bondage imagery of the 40s and early 50s. But more about that in a later article.
